Follicle Transplant Consultation
Our doctor feels that the initial consultation is extremely important. During your first meeting with Dr. Gershenbaum, he will review your medical history, discuss your goals and expectations, as well as build mutual trust and rapport.
Transplant photographs from previous Aventura Center patients will be reviewed. The doctor also performs a thorough evaluation of the head, follicle depletion patterns, and donor follicles. A careful discussion of potential results and objectives for the future continues. The recommendation for numbers of grafts is given; this will range from a minimum number of grafts to obtain a significant and pleasing result to the maximum number of grafts that can be performed in one procedure.
The transplant surgery plan, including incision and scar placement, is developed. Prospective transplant patients are encouraged to speak with previous patients about their transplant surgery and results.
Following the initial consultation and after the appropriate time for reflection and decision-making, an appointment is scheduled for routine preparation and informed consent. Additional questions and concerns may also be addressed. Dr. Gershenbaum and his staff are always available for questions. Female patients may require additional blood analysis, or biopsy of the cranium, to rule out causes other than androgenetic alopecia.
